About us

The Tropical Research Center (CITRO) is one of the 19 research centers that the University of Veracruz has founded in the last two decades. It is an interdisciplinary academic center, where in an integral way, research, teaching, technological development and linking activities are carried out, with focus on knowledge, conservation and development of the tropic in Mexico. Since its foundation, it is distinguished by the composition of its team of researchers and technicians, specialized in natural sciences, social sciences and ethnosciences, who are backed by a great work experience at a national and international level and who from different methods and approaches –from basic science to participatory action research–contribute to the conservation of the biocultural richness of the Mexican tropic.

Since 2008 we have in CITRO a master’s degree and doctorate in Tropical Ecology. The Master’s degree belongs to the Register of the National Program of Quality Postgraduates (PNPC) of the National Council of Science and Technology (CONACYT). The graduates of our programs are now academic colleagues, teachers, technicians, businessmen; promoters of an integral approach and practice in favor of the improvement of the social, economic and environmental conditions of the tropics.

With enthusiasm we welcome you to the Tropical Research Center!

PhD. Citlalli López Binnqüist
