
Dr. Marín-Urías: A Leader in Artificial Intelligence and Robotics
Graduate of the Faculty of Computer Science at the Universidad Veracruzana, Dr. Marín began his career in the industry, where he specialized in automating information processes, leveraging his technical expertise to streamline operations and enhance efficiency. Building on his early professional experience, he pursued advanced studies, earning a Master’s degree in Artificial Intelligence from the Universidad Veracruzana. He further solidified his academic credentials by obtaining a Master 2 Recherche in Critical Computer Systems from the prestigious Université de Toulouse III – Paul Sabatier in France. His academic journey culminated in a Ph.D. in Robotics from the same university, conducted in partnership with the renowned Laboratory for Analysis and Architecture of Systems (LAAS-CNRS), a leading research institute in robotics and artificial intelligence.
Following his doctoral studies, Dr. Marín returned to Mexico to contribute to the advancement of science and technology in his home country. He undertook a postdoctoral fellowship at the Center for Research in Artificial Intelligence (CIIA) at the Universidad Veracruzana, where he collaborated with local and international researchers on cutting-edge projects.
Throughout his career, Dr. Marín-Urías has played a key role in several high-impact European and international research initiatives, including:
- COGNIRON (The Cognitive Robot Companion): A groundbreaking project focused on developing robots capable of interacting naturally and intelligently with humans in domestic environments. Dr. Marín contributed to advancing the integration of artificial intelligence in human-robot interaction.
- DEXMART (Dexterous and Autonomous Dual-Arm/Hand Robotic Manipulation): A project aimed at designing robots with the dexterity and autonomy to manipulate objects in complex scenarios, mirroring human-like capabilities.
