  • Justification

Veracruz is a state that, starting in 2020, has developed growth expectations, having begun the construction of the Interoceanic Corridor of the Isthmus of Tehuantepec (CIIT), as a driver project for economic growth and development for the southern part of the state. Another major project is the one announced by the company Nestlé, which plans to invest 154 million pesos for a production center in this state, generating more than 12,000 direct and indirect jobs, all while boosting the agri-food sector.

In addition to these projects, the economy is being driven through other sectors, and in them, it is essential to have professionals in various areas, but with sufficient knowledge of statistics, resource management, information handling, systems analysis, and identification of potential problems (Secretariat of Finance and Planning, 2020). It is also essential to consider that the evolution of the labor field, with respect to technology, is changing everything from consumer habits to the way goods and services are produced and marketed. The above also requires highly trained individuals with a research profile, capable of leading improvement and reengineering projects that allow for the updating of current companies and the emergence of organizations under this technological scheme.

Under this perspective, current globalization demands that companies, institutions, and other productive organizations continuously use strategies to position and increase their competitiveness in the market, offer high-quality products and/or services that allow them to maintain customer loyalty and expand their production and marketing networks.

Reliability engineering and probabilistic safety analysis are tools used in different types of productive organizations, allowing them to ensure quality in the functioning of each and every activity of the processes, including industrial safety. This is one of the main tools that will be provided to quality engineers during their professional training. For the reasons stated above, the Master’s degree in Quality Engineering responds to a social need in the State of Veracruz for highly trained and certified professionals.
