Research Profiles Index

The academic core of this program is grouped into three Academic Bodies. LGACs are representative of research related to Artificial Intelligence and particularly of the research carried out within our institute.

Academic Body: Research and Applications of Artificial Intelligence

CA code: P-UVER-CA-197
Grade: Consolidated
DES of Assignment: Xalapa Technique Assignment
Responsible: Dr. Efrén Mezura Montes
Unit: Artificial Intelligence Research Institute

LGAC1. Computational Learning: This line of research investigates and applies algorithms for knowledge discovery in databases, through the identification and extraction of complex patterns that enable the creation of models capable of explaining and/or predicting phenomena. This disciplinary area encompasses machine learning techniques, data science, multi-agent systems, and bio-inspired computing.

Academic Body: Research and Applications of Intelligent Robotics

CA Code: P-UVER-CA-355
Grade: In Consolidation
DES of Assignment: Xalapa Technique Assignment
Responsible: Dr. Antonio Marín Hernández
Unit: Faculty of Physics and Artificial Intelligence

LGAC2. Robotics and Intelligent Interfaces: This line focuses on the development and implementation of robotic systems and human-computer interfaces capable of solving complex problems in a robust and efficient manner. These types of systems combine developments from various topics in the field of artificial intelligence, such as: computer vision, robotic perception, decision-making systems, sensor fusion, trajectory planning and tracking, autonomous localization, human-computer interfaces, studies of body dynamics for interfaces, evolutionary robotics, among other topics.

Academic Body: Data Mining and Multi-Agent Systems

CA Code: UVE-CA-547
Grade: In consolidación
DES of Assignment: Xalapa Technique Assignment
Responsible: Dr. Alejandro Guerra Hernández

LGAC6. Data Mining: This line of research studies the discovery of knowledge from data using machine learning techniques; interpretation and validation of the models obtained; as well as the storage, analysis, and processing of the data itself. Topics of interest include the theoretical foundations that enable the proper use of these techniques and the synthesis of better tools, as well as their application in different domains such as medicine, education, economics, and interaction with multi-agent systems, among others.

LGAC7. Multi-Agent Systems: This line of research studies intelligent agents, computing systems with autonomous, flexible, and social behavior, and their interactions (communication, coordination, collaboration, social learning). Topics of interest include the theoretical foundations of agent rationality, agent-oriented programming languages and software engineering, agent-based modeling and simulation, and the learning mechanisms that these systems can use. The use of these systems to support data mining and simulation is also explored.

The academic nucleus of the Master in Artificial Intelligence is made up of 14 full-time professors, belonging to the Artificial Intelligence Research Institute. Due to their degree of studies, 86% of the nucleus is made up of doctors and 14% of teachers.

Regarding the distinctions that the basic academic nucleus has, 71% of the basic nucleus has a desirable PRODEP profile and 71% of the members belong to the National System of Researchers (8 SNI members with level I, 1 member with level II, and 1 member with level III). The program frequently receives visiting professors as part of the network of collaborative research projects.
