Program description

The Master’s in Tropical Horticulture has an interdisciplinary, multidisciplinary, and transdisciplinary approach, allowing graduates to identify, analyze, and solve problems specific to the horticultural area. In this aspect, teaching-learning processes become important due to providing professionals with a Master’s in Tropical Horticulture at a high theoretical-practical level, always focusing on respect for cultural diversity and the care and conservation of the environment.

In this postgraduate program, the constructivist approach and individual and collaborative work promote significant learning through developing competencies, enriching the student’s theoretical and applied knowledge. Unlike other similar postgraduate programs, here students practice directly in real-world horticultural production systems, using the acquired knowledge and gaining experience in tropical crop production and technology management, developing problem-solving skills that enrich the training possibilities for graduates of undergraduate programs such as agricultural engineering, agrochemical engineering, agricultural chemistry, biology, and related fields.

The curriculum of the Master’s in Tropical Horticulture is composed of 100 credits distributed over a total of 1020 hours, with 540 hours of practical activities and 480 hours of theoretical activities. The curriculum has been structured into two areas: the Disciplinary area and the Elective area. The courses are taken over four semesters and are organized in a flexible model.
