Faculty member at the Institute of Artificial Intelligence Research of the Universidad Veracruzana (IIIA-UV). His area of study is Evolutionary Robotics, and during his PhD he developed a Basal Ganglia–based Controller for the Khepera Robot. He participated in the HAPI-UV program in 2019 and 2023, visiting the ISTC-CNR in Rome, Italy; he also served as Coordinator of the Master’s Program in Artificial Intelligence at Universidad Veracruzana (until December 2022). He is currently a member of the National System of Researchers (SNI Level I) with an h-index of 9 on Google Scholar. His research interests focus on Artificial Intelligence, Behavior-Based Robotics, Action Selection Mechanisms, Genetic Algorithms, Evolutionary Robotics, and Computational Finance.
