The proposal of the Master’s Degree in Nursing seeks to articulate an integrating framework between the social development policies presented in: the National Development Plan (PND) 2019-2024. Within the framework that governs the General Law of Professions in force this year, it marks the obligation to favor the integral development of the individual in the best way according to the profession or discipline he/she is learning.

It is also supported by the Veracruz Development Plan where the state gives greater impetus to university education and entrepreneurship of students, occupying the Universidad Veracruzana an important percentage in higher education and postgraduate characteristics that are established in the update of this master’s program.

The central purpose of the General Development Plan 2030 of the Universidad Veracruzana indicates the intention and determination to lead the institution to levels of quality and relevance, which makes the Master’s Degree in Nursing frequently carry out a process of evaluation and adaptation of their educational experiences, according to social needs, making this program can get to make a link with social communities and solve the problems that afflict them.

The curricular design is directed towards the training of teachers in nursing, who contribute to the solution of health problems from the scope of their competence, with the ability to provide professional care, to act critically and develop interventions aimed at generating innovative practices with quality, freedom and responsibility, respect, dignity, equality and non-discrimination, to perform functions related to the health experiences of the person, family or community, impacting on health conservation, social welfare, self-care and healthy lifestyle of people at different stages of life; with leadership in inter and multidisciplinary work; using information and communication technologies, theories and models of the discipline, research and intervention.

The Master’s Degree in Nursing is based on an analysis of health policies and the demographic and epidemiological profile of the country and the State, in the prevailing problems such as: non-communicable diseases (diabetes, arterial hypertension, cancer), as well as behavioral alterations, mental health with emphasis on addictions and occupational health, traditional medicine and alternative therapies. It is necessary to carry out adequate prevention actions and timely attention to sexuality and reproduction, recognizing that women and men are subjects who have rights in relation to their sexuality and reproductive capacity, in conditions of equity, all this based on a flexible curricular structure and organization, which allows students to have a quality training, provide academic support and support through the tutoring program and interaction with their peers from the student mobility program.

The purpose of integral education is the constructivist approach that promotes meaningful learning through the development of competencies and encompasses intellectual, human, social and professional aspects. It is based on a balanced action, both for intellectual and moral aspects, which enhance the harmonious development of students, through the nuanced treatment of integrating axes: Theoretical, heuristic and axiological, understood as the approach that amalgamates the whole curricular proposal, that is to say, the perspective from which the teaching processes should be developed and the curricular contents approached to achieve the formation in the four dimensions mentioned. This process is achieved through the methodological strategies used in each of the EE, which allow the student to transversalize each of the acquired knowledge and at the same time make evident the competencies in which they were trained.
