Gary Bartz

Uno de los saxofonista más importantes en la historia del jazz, ganador del premio Grammy, nacido en Baltimore, se muda en 1958 a los 17 años a New York para estudiar en Julliard Conservatory of Music. A mediados de los 60’s se une al Max Roach/Abbey Lincoln Group y en 1965 forma parte de Art Blakey’s Jazz Messengers. Del 62 al 64 es parte del Charles Mingus’ Workshop al lado de Eric Dolphy. En 1968 comienza su colaboración con McCoy Tyner que continua hasta la fecha. En 1970 es llamado por Miles Davis y forma su propio grupo NTU Troop Ensemble. Ha grabado más de 40 discos como líder desde 1968 y en más de 100 discos como saxofonista de artistas importantes como Miles Davis, Shirley Horn, Donald Byrd, McCoy Tyner entre muchos otros

Gary Bartz.-One of the most important saxophonists in the history of jazz. With a Grammy award, Gary Bartz was born in Baltimore. He moves to New York in 1958 when he was 17, to study at Julliard Conservatory of Music. In the middle 60’s he joined Max Roach/Abbey Lincoln Group y en 1965 started playing with Art Blakey’s Jazz Messengers. From 1962 to 64 es parte del Charles Mingus’ Workshop with Eric Dolphy. In 1968 Bartz starts his collaboration with McCoy Tyner until today. En 1970 he was called by Miles Davis and also forms his own group NTU Troop Ensemble. He has recorded more than 40 albums as a leader since 1968 and more than 100 albums as a sideman with artists like Miles Davis, Shirley Horn, Donald Byrd, McCoy Tyner among many others.
