Dr. Nicholas Bremner

Dr. Nicholas Bremner is Lecturer in Language Education at the University of Exeter, UK, where he is Programme Director for the Master’s of Education in TESOL. Before moving to Exeter, he held the role of Senior Lecturer in TESOL at Bath Spa University, and a Teaching Fellow in ELT/TESOL at the University of Southampton. Originally from Newcastle in North-East England, he lived in Mexico for six years, and Colombia for two years, where he worked in a variety of ELT contexts. His main research focus is exploring the different ways in which “learner-centred” approaches are conceptualised, and implemented, in diverse teaching contexts. He is also particularly interested in using visual methods such as timelines to enhance reflective practice in teacher education. Among other projects, he is currently working on a funded study seeking to explore stakeholder perspectives of the Nueva Escuela Mexicana reform in Mexican Basic Education.
