DESCRIPTION OF EDUCATIONAL EXPERIENCES

NAME: VETERINARY ZOOTECHNICIAN
LEVEL: BACHELOR’S DEGREE
PLAN: 2008

DESCRIPTION
The educational program of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Husbandry seeks the well-being of animals and the care in the production of food of animal origin. It collaborates in the maintenance of public health, through the production and health of milk and meat producing species (bovine, porcine, poultry, ovine, caprine, among others), companion and recreational species (dogs, cats, equines, among others). In the career, professional activities such as animal production, preventive medicine, genetic improvement, animal reproduction, diagnosis, therapeutics, applied surgery, epidemiological surveillance, food safety, nutrition, livestock administration, among others, are developed.

OBJECTIVE
To train professionals with skills and knowledge that allow them to build strategies to conduct themselves with professional ethics, ensure the proper management of animals and the well-being of society.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
– High school certificate or proof of studies
– Pay the exam fee
– Pass the admission exam
– Two child-sized photographs
– Birth certificate
– Payment of registration fee
– Anything else specified in the Student Statute

ADMISSION PROFILE
Regarding the admission profile, some recommendations regarding intellectual abilities, personal interests and personality aspects desirable for a veterinary career are:

– Ability to analyse and synthesize, logical reasoning, ability to create and innovate, visual and auditory memory, adaptation to new technologies, ability to adapt to work teams.
– Interest in research, biology, health, ecology, the natural world and especially animals.
– Ability to combine individual work and teamwork, sensitivity and patience with animals.

TITLE AWARDED
The degree and title of Veterinary Zootechnician is awarded.

DEGREE REQUIREMENTS
To obtain the title of Veterinary Zootechnician, 100% of the credits of the Educational Program and the regulatory provisions indicated in the Student Statute must be completed. https://www.uv.mx/aspirantes

PROFESSIONAL PROFILE OF THE GRADUATE
The graduate will be able to:
1. Participate in public veterinary health programs through health education, prevention of zoonoses, hygiene and food protection, in order to safeguard human health.
2. Use and apply updated knowledge with the integral species-product concept of ethology, genetics, nutrition, reproduction, health, legislation, economics and administration, incorporating the optimal use of physical infrastructure and the study of ecosystems to manage production companies and agricultural inputs and related institutions.
3. Apply the knowledge and techniques provided for in the standards for the conservation, distribution and qualification of livestock products and inputs, in order to safeguard the health of man and animals and intervene in the design of marketing policies.
4. Participate in the planning, establishment, interpretation, execution and evaluation of agricultural development policies and programs, through the economic analysis of production, operation, financing and knowledge of the producer organization.
5. Participate in the research and dissemination of scientific and technological development in biomedicine, animal health, veterinary public health and animal production. Apply the aspects of production and rational use of animals in experimentation and in alternative systems.
6. Participate in the design and application of measures to preserve the quality of air, water, soil, flora and fauna within the environment of animal production to ensure sustained cycles of rational use and renewal of the participating resources.
7. Apply the fundamental concepts and theoretical, sociological and historical framework that allow him/her to participate in community development actions and knowledge linkage.
8. Have skills and abilities in the use of the scientific method, as well as the analysis and processing of data.

FIELD
Federal, state and municipal State Secretariats; slaughterhouses, refrigerators and health inspection work. Biomedical research centers and those applied to production. Professional and private practice; teaching practice; banking and financial systems; greyhound and racetracks; zoos; tasks of genetic improvement and artificial insemination and advice to cattle breeders (individually or grouped in associations)
