The Master’s Program in the Economy and Society of China and Latin America advances the following Knowledge Generation and Application Lines:<\/p>\n

KGAL N\u00b0 1:<\/strong><\/td>\n China-Latin America: History, Economy and Society.<\/strong><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Description<\/td>\n This line examines the general history of Chinese and Latin American civilizations from their origins to the present day. Emphasis is placed on pivotal events that shaped the formation of both civilizations, including the emergence and evolution of their systems of governance and public administration, distinctive cultural traits, models of social and productive organization, and the impact of foreign powers’ intervention on their national development trajectories.<\/p>\n
It critically assesses China’s rapid economic growth and its accelerated international expansion within a remarkably condensed timeframe. The line also analyzes the profound transformations experienced by a nation that, as recently as the 1970s, faced high levels of poverty and technological underdevelopment.<\/p>\n
Furthermore, it projects global economic scenarios for the coming decades and evaluates the strategic positioning of China and Latin America within this evolving context. Special attention is given to the extraordinary potential of cultural and material resources characterizing the emerging economies of the 21st century.<\/p>\n

Description<\/td>\n This line focuses on the study of diverse cultural characteristics that influence the behavior of social actors engaged in economic negotiations between China and Latin America.<\/p>\n
It provides instruction on areas of competitive advantage and complementarity that characterize bilateral engagement across both regions.<\/p>\n
The line examines flows of Chinese foreign direct investment (FDI) into Latin America, as well as Latin American investment initiatives directed toward China.<\/p>\n
It evaluates potential sectoral strategies designed to foster successful business outcomes and sustainable commercial partnerships between the two regions.<\/p>\n

Description<\/td>\n This line analyzes the expansion of interregional trade in goods and services, including considerations related to the long-term sustainability of these growing flows.<\/p>\n
It examines legal and fiscal frameworks, the assessment of products for export and import, as well as technical standards and protocols governing business relations between China and Latin America.<\/p>\n
The line evaluates structural shifts in China’s trade patterns, qualitative transformations in its export and import portfolios, and its evolving participation in global markets following trade liberalization reforms.<\/p>\n
It further scrutinizes China’s bilateral trade architecture with each Latin American country, including the composition of goods and services exported from Latin America to the People’s Republic of China.<\/p>\n
