Welcome

Ecological economics has been called the science of sustainability ( Constanza , 1993; Dodds , 1997) and emerges as a possible solution to environmental – social – economic current imbalance . Ecological economics studies the interactions between society , the economic system and nature. It includes a theoretical and practical framework of the economy and and expands when it relates to ecosystems, and this is the main point of analysis. The name of ecological economy reflects the concern today about handling nature and human being, what makes it an integral discipline. So it is presented as the foundations for a new paradigm in which recognizes that the economy is necessarily located within the natural system , an open system (Daly , 2003). The establishment of models describing the ecological economic systems is extremely complex.

While it is possible to combine socio- economic processes with natural processes , the decreasing of one against the apparent growth of the other, requires the construction of dynamic models with a new meaning of optimization ( Voynov , 2008). Ecological economics has used the tools provided environmental economics to better solve the challenges that the posed sustainable development including a strong ethical element and respect by society and nature ( Farley , 2006).

The master in environmental and ecological economics is a master’s program in research that search to follow the precepts of ecological economics using tools that environmental economics has developed to order to guide the generation and application of knowledges to the solution of environmental problems with a strong ethic perspective.
