Se descubri\u00f3 a partir de una circunscripci\u00f3n de las poblaciones de la especie\u00a0<em>Dioon merolae<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>La especie fue publicada recientemente en la revista Phytotaxa donde los autores describen que la especie se caracteriza por sus fol\u00edolos planos, r\u00edgidos y rectos que est\u00e1n insertados en posici\u00f3n oblicua en el raquis.
