To Be in Past
Cuando hablamos del pasado simple, se usa para describir una acción, evento o condición que ocurre en el pasado antes del momento de hablar o escribir.
Observa el siguiente ejemplo:

El Verbo To Be varía según el tiempo verbal en que lo quieras utilizar.

El uso del Verbo To Be ....... Es equivalente a SER o ESTAR en español. También se utiliza para expresar: La edad y Estados físicos con Adjetivos.
En este caso pensemos en ejemplos en pasado simple únicamente.
La edad

Last year, Ricardo and Maria were in Los Angeles, They were 17.
When I was 6 years old, I was in Primary School, I enjoyed that
time.
Last month it was my mother's birthday, and I gaver her a new car.
Were you 12 years in the firt year of the secondary school?
