I am an anthropologist (undergraduate studies and M.Sc. by the Instituto Superior de Ciências Sociais e Políticas, Universidade Técnica de Lisboa, Portugal) and ethologist (Ph.D. by the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, Spain). In 2007 I became a researcher at the Instituto de Neuroetología of the Universidad Veracruzana (Mexico).

I am dedicated to the study of the behavioral ecology of howler monkeys that live in Mexico, Alouatta palliata y A. pigra. Specifically, I have been interested in studying the variation in the behavior of these primates associated with the attributes of their socio-environmental context. Additionally, in collaboration with other researchers, I have studied different aspects of the ecology, physiology, and evolution of these species. Since 2012, I have focused in the study of the costs of reproduction for female howler monkeys (https://www.uv.mx/personal/pdias/proyectos-en-curso/).
