Are you about to apply to the School for Foreign Students (EEE) of the Universidad Veracruzana in Xalapa?
Here are some of the most common questions we get from international students who are planning to apply to the EEE-UV.
What is the next available term that I can apply to EEE-UV?
The next available for applicants to EEE is Summer 2011, which will begin on May 21 with the orientation and our classes
will start on Monday 23.

What are the requirements to apply at EEE-UV?
Requirements to register can be sent by e-mail, regular mail or fax (except for the photographs) make sure to bring the originals to
the Admissions Office.
Answer our placement test. First follow this link in order to get a login and password information. Once you have that information you can go ahead and answer the Placement test. It is absolutely necessary to take the online placement test.

Payment for the registration fee $85 USD (non refundable) and selected program.
For Exchange students administrative fee $80 USD (non refundable).
The latest transcript from your University, if you require credits.
Homestay Program application form, (Part I and Part II ) If applicable.
Cultural Immersion Program application form, ( Part I and Part II ) If applicable.
Proof of funding (except for Special Programs and the Intensive Summer Session).
If you do not have your student visa within 2 months after classes have started at UV, you cannot continue taking classes, and therefore,
will receive no transcript.
It is the student duty in his/her semester or annual program to hand in a photocopy of FM3 visa or a photocopy of the correspondent
procedure to the INM (National Immigration Institute) to the Services Coordination during the first 30 days after their arrival
so they can be registered in the U.V.
Once you have all the requirements to register, you will receive an official notification of payment and an acceptance letter
of admission.
We suggest that you send your application form and the registration fee the earliest possible. If credit is required and/or
for the Practica Program, you must include certified copy of transcript and letter of recommendation signed by advisor or a school
authority in the institution of origin.
There are two ways in which you can get an application form.

If you have already arrived in Xalapa, visit the School for Foreign Students at Zamora 25, right in downtown.
You will be given the application form to fill out.
Is there any tuition fee to apply at EEE?
There is a mandatory fee of USD $ 85.00 that covers registration at the EEE for a calendar year (August-July).
When do I know if get admitted to the EEE?
You are admitted at the EEE once you paid the mandatory fee of USD$ 85.00, you have to send us hardcopy of your payment, the
application form, and photocopy of your passport. Once you send these documents you will receive an acceptance letter.
As an international student; do I need to get a FM3 Visa?
Yes. You are required to get a FM3 Visa to study in Mexico by the government. You can enter the country with a tourist visa
but you will be asked to change your status to as a student.
Where do I get information on financial aid and scholarships?
The EEE-UV does not provide financial aid and scholarships. However, you should contact your Study Abroad Advisor at your
institution to verify if your university maintains any sort of Student Exchange Program agreement with Universidad Veracruzana.
Is there a deadline for sending you my documents?
We recommend you to send the documents as soon as possible, before the following dates:

Spring semester, second week of January.
Summer Program, second week of May.
Note: by this time your file should contain all the required documents otherwise Admissions will not be able to process your

It is important to bring the original hardcopy you get in the bank to the payments office,
otherwise if you lose it, you wil have to pay the corresponding fee again.
Note: Be sure to bring new bills, because dirty, torn, crumpled, faded or written upon, or bills in anyway marked will not be
accepted at banks or money exchange places. Only bring new bills in good conditions to avoid the frustration of not being able
to spend your dollars.
What is the average number of students in a course?
The average number of students in the classrooms depends on each course. Nevertheless, there are between five and fifteen
students in every course.
What are the courses offered during each term?
The EEE offers courses during three terms, spring, summer and fall. Spanish intensive courses are offered in six different
levels. A different modality of these courses is "Español Contacto Express", which consists of an intensive
two week course offered early spring and early fall for those who want a first contact with the language. Other language
courses are Spanish for Specific Purposes: Business, Spanish grammar, Spanish pronunciation, Oral expression, etc.
On the other hand, the EEE offers a variety of culture courses such as Mexican Culture and Civilization, Contemporary
Mexican Literature, Prehispanic Civilizations, Latin American Literature Written by Women, History of Mexico, among
others.
There is also a U.S. Studies Program, Independent Study Program, Internship and Practica Program, Teaching of Spanish as a
Second Language, General University Courses, and many more.

How many courses can I take?
You are allowed to take as many courses as you wish. However, if you’re participating in a Student Exchange program you
should contact your study abroad advisor to verify how many courses you can take.
How many credits can I get for each course?
In the calendar and fees worksheet you will find the number of credits for each course.
How much does a course cost?
The cost of the courses vary depending upon each course. To see whole list of fees click on the
fees section of the home page.
What if I don’t like the course I am taking?
Once you start a course you are given a week to decide if you stay on that course. If you do not like the course and want to
change it or drop it, you need to go to the Academic Coordination to make the necessary arrangements. Please if you want to drop

Can I take a class even if I don’t need the credits?
Of course you can. You can attend any class you want as long as you register and pay the corresponding fee.
Can I attend the EEE even if I am not enrolled in any university or college in my country of origin?
Yes. The EEE offers its services to everybody interested in learning Spanish regardless of age, sexual preferences,
religion, or ethnic background.
