CONGRESS INFORMATION
Congress. The academic program features
conferences, discussion panels and simultaneous thematic sessions.
Among participants
invited to attend the sessions are civil
servants and renowned academics from higher education institutions, intellectuals,
businessmen, political leaders and members of Parliaments as well as senior
officials from higher education international organizations.
Meetings
of members. Assemblies of the eight IOHE regions will take place on Sunday,
November 9th. The Executive Council of the College of the Americas
and the Council of the Institute for University Management and Leadership
(IGLU) will meet on the same date. The General Assembly of members will
be held over two sessions, scheduled for Tuesday, November 11th and Wednesday,
November 12th.
IOHE-Expo. A fair held at the World Trade Center will offer higher education
institutions, businesses and non-governmental organizations the possibility
to introduce products and services related to higher education to executives
and senior officials from the entire continent and present them with an opportunity
to establish strategic alliances.
Gilles Boulet Prize. Awarded in memory of the founder and first president
of the IOHE, the 2003 Gilles Boulet Prize rewards the exceptional quality of
the Professional Work or Intervention Project accomplished by a participant
in the IGLU Course.
Interamerica
Prize. This distinction is awarded to an academic, a politician,
an intellectual or a social leader whose professional accomplishments
have contributed to the advancement of continental integration,
in accordance with the IOHE mission and statement of values. This
year, the Prize will be awarded to Dr. José Sarukhán
Kermez, National Coordinator of the Comisión Nacional
para el Conocimiento y Uso de la Biodiversidad (CONABIO), Mexico.
He was recently appointed member at large of the Royal Society of
the United Kingdom.
